I guess we kind of knew already, but now it’s official…

Researchers have discovered that women should wear  red clothes to grab the guys attention.

It is not just the singer Chris de Burgh, who is fond of dancing girls in red. A group of researchers have now discovered that men generally prefer women who have red clothes on, according to the British newspaper The Daily Mail.

The study, which has just been published in the journal European Journal of Social Psychology, concludes that women in red are better at attracting men’s attention. Additionally, men are more flirtatious when they’re with women wearing red clothes, and they also want to move closer to these women.

It’s a research team from the University of Rochester in the state of New York, who conducted the survey. A group of men were shown  some pictures of some “fairly attractive” women who wore blue clothes.

Another group of men were shown women in red clothing, and according to the researchers, these men acted far more playful and humorous, when they subsequently were to describe them.

Afterwards, all the men were told that they could meet these  women. The men who had seen the pictures of the women in red generally chose to sit closer to the chair where they figured that the woman would sit.

Red signals fertility

According to Niesta Kayser, who has been involved in the study, the phenomenon has its roots in the early evolution. The red color signals fertility, and therefore women in red generally is considered a better catch when it comes to finding a partner who can secure the family, by having some children.
It seems, according to Niesta Kayser, that this is also seen on many of the Internet dating sites. The women who have a profile picture, where they wear red clothes, received on average more inquiries from interested parties.

“Women should definitely wear a red shirt or a red dress when they are getting ready for a date with a man they want,” says Kayser Niesta to The Daily Mail.

However, it’s not only women who should wear red clothes if they will improve their scoring potential. A research that was published a few months ago, showed that men also appears more attractive to women if they have a few red shirts in the closet. According to research, women are attracted sexually to men who have red clothes on.

“Traditionally speaking, red is considered a sexy color when it comes to women dresses, but our findings suggest that the relationship between the color red and sexual attraction also is true for men,”  researcher Andrew Elliot of the University of Rochester writes in the conclusion.

Today marks the day that my Compliment Challenge must come to end.

In a way I’m happy because I can devote more time to the topic I’m most fascinated with: dating. But it’s also a little sad because in the process of all this complimenting I’ve met a lot of other bloggers and interesting people doing great things that are just downright compliment worthy.

So in a struggle to find something for my final compliment of the challenge I looked around, re-read some things, Stumbled, Tweeted, and then finally found what I thought deserved the most attention.

Chocolate eclairs.

My New Year’s Resolution is to eat more of these. No, not because chocolate eclairs are low in fat and have few calories. Not because you have to step inside of great places like Dunkin’ Donuts and other such bakeries, but because I like them and they make me happy.

This year, unlike all the other years, let’s just be honest about our resolutions. You can count calories, but give yourself one thing you love.

I love chocolate eclairs and the French man or woman that invented it gets a huge compliment from me.

I wish I had seen this lovely handbag before Christmas. It would have certainly made its way onto my Christmas list. Talk about a conversation piece!

You might remember my fascination with my Hobo and think…how does she keep all her stuff organized in that big thing? Well, I found a solution. It’s the Carte Blanche Flap Wallet.

My new wallet is big enough to hold all the necessities, plus a few extras and it’s a beautiful color that contrasts my Hobo well. My Perlina wallet deserves a compliment for being so cute and functional.

Sorry to be inundating you with these funny compliments, but I just can’t help myself. Tis’ the season to be buying myself holiday gifts and when I see something I like, I have to compliment it for my Compliment Challenge.

Not only is this a great opportunity for the rest of us bloggers to gain a few links, but it’s great to exercise that creative muscle.

The prompt I chose is If you had to star in a reality TV show, which one would it be and why? Here’s my response:

Life and Times of a 21st Century Genius

It’s not if I’ll star in a reality TV show, it’s when I’ll star in a reality television show. My first preference for a show will my own, of course. I mean, who wouldn’t want to watch me live my daily life and see all the fascinating things I do.

Like the minutes I waste every morning waiting in line for my latte. Or the first hour of my work day when I surf the web, read the news, and harass other bloggers with my wickedly novel comments.

There’d be so much action in my life that they’d need more than one cameraman at all times. Like during the best part of my day, when I go next door to chat with my co-worker. We complain mostly about traffic, weather, work load, and bosses, but whatever the  topic, it’s always titillating.

Then, the cameras would follow me as I walk from office to office to share my insights into making the business run better. I will expel summaries of meetings this other person wasn’t in and share reflections on something I read.

After I’ve impressed everyone with my astounding intellect, it’ll be time for lunch. It will take me another 15 or so minutes to find someone who is going to a place that I have an interest in.

One lady will say tuna sandwiches from the deli. She always says that and every day I say no way.  Burritos from the burrito place the IT guys will say – forget it.

I won’t stop pacing these halls until someone sys sushi. Sushi dammit! That’s what someone of my celebrity status needs to eat for lunch.

Finally I will have found someone to eat lunch with me and the cameras will follow us into my co-workers two-door Civic. It’ll be a little tight in there between the microphones and and lights. But we will make it work.

Then after, 45 minutes of talking about last night’s TV line up, the producer will call my cell phone and encourage me and my co-worker to rear-end someone on the way back to work. They need a “teaser” for the following episode, and like they say: “If it bleeds, it leads!”

My co-worker and I talk about it for a minute and when she finally believes my lies that the network will pay her insurance deductible, she agrees. Problem is the person she rear-ends must be an illegal driver because he drives away so fast after the accident that the camera crew doesn’t have time to get out of the car for the footage.

Oh well, there’s always the next day.

After lunch I’ll catch up on the news and blog posts, then head to a committee meeting. We’re planning the holiday party right now and it’s critical that I be there. If I don’t speak up about the karaoke machine, then no one will.

Then it will be about 3:30pm and I’ll panic a little about the fact that I haven’t done any work that day. I’ll have a heart to heart with the camera over the pains and struggles I have in my job. I’m not fulfilled. I’m not challenged. My boss doesn’t appreciate me. I’m thinking about a lawsuit. It’ll be a tough confession. I might even cry a little.

Then, motivated to work, the cameras will record me staring at my computer screen for minutes without blinking, typing maniacally and returning phone calls to the east coast where it’s now 7pm and I know no one is at their desks.

Once the work day is over I’ll head home to have dinner and a brutal argument with my boyfriend. We’ll be in the midst of discussing our recent problems, which will be timely since the reality show is going on and everything.

What he won’t realize is that I’ve been cheating on him. I can’t seem to stop because I think its fun and it doesn’t ever occur to me that he’ll find out once the show airs.  He’ll find out one night when we’re snuggled up on the couch eating sushi and watching the third episode. He’ll dump me, but take me back after the network offers me a second season of Life and Times of a 21st Century Genius.

The second season will be better than the first because that’s when I’ll accidentally get pregnant.

And if Life and Times of a 21st Century Genius doesn’t work out, then I’ll try out for Survivor. Is that show even on the air anymore?

In case you didn’t know, I’m a designer handbag fanatic. I don’t have many but I spend much of my time looking at them online, on the shelves of department stores, and on the shoulders of other women. Something in me is wired to need a heavy piece of leather over my shoulder. Maybe it’s that everything I need can fit right there in my bag. Maybe it’s because the bag matches my shoes and hat. Maybe it’s because I can take people out with it when I’m walking down the road.

Whatever the reason, I love my Leather Double Strap Hobo and it deserves a compliment.  The two straps create a versatility that a lot of other bags don’t provide. I also love the camel color because I can wear it with both browns and blacks.
