1 – Don’t ask anyone out on a date or cancel a date over text. Use your manners! Pick up the phone and explain yourself properly.

2 – Avoid texting back and forth dozens of times over several weeks before actually seeing each other. Just like in online dating, you don’t want to message for too long because the longer you go without seeing each other the more skewed your expectations may become.

3 – Keep your jokes simple. Humor can sometimes be misunderstood over text and email. Avoid offending someone by keeping the jokes to a minimum.

Yeah, imagine that. A four to five cigarette a day smoker can’t date a chain smoker!

I guess it’s because there’s nothing sexy about stained yellow teeth, smoky breath, and stinky fingertips. However, can we all agree that there is something sexy about a man with a scotch in one hand and a cigar in the other?

I’m off track.

According to my friend, she really liked the guy she met on Yahoo!, but after she realized he was sneaking into the mens bathroom for a couple butts at a professional hockey game, she thought twice.

“Couldn’t he just just wait,” my friend said. “The game was almost over, but yet he just had to get away.”

My friend is pretty open minded and being a smoker herself she never would’ve imagined that it would bother her.

If only he had passed on those few butts he might’ve saved his date from total demise. Moral of the story – buy the gum and don’t neglect your date just for a smoke. Buy the gum.

The reason for my rant is because of only 10 minutes I spent listening to her the other day. A woman called in to discuss an issue she was having with her husband. You see, the husband wanted a second child and the caller did not so she was reaching out to Dr. Laura for some family advice on how to handle the matter.  The doctor immediately cut off the caller and continued to demoralize the husband saying that he was basically a bad guy for not listening to what his wife wants.

Isn’t it interesting that she criticized the man for not listening to this woman?

To make matters worse, the caller then said that her husband didn’t like Doctor Laura because she didn’t allow people to think for themselves. Doctor Laura cut off the caller to say things like “I’ve never heard that before” and “That’s interesting coming from a man that doesn’t care what you want.” As Laura continued to to berate the husband for being a jerk, the caller quietly stayed on the line just accepting the way this woman put down her family. Laura went on and on about how the husband was a mind-controller and an all-around bad guy.

I have one question. What kind of family advice is that?

You side with a woman that doesn’t want any more children and then you convince her that her husband is a bad guy. Well, if there were ever a way to save a marriage I’d say that’s NOT it. Get over yourself lady.

I would not wish this on my worst enemy.
