A book that doesn’t just talk about the silly things girls do to chase away guys. Why He Didn’t Call You Back: 1,000 Guys Reveal What They Really Thought About You After Your Date by Rachel Greenwald looks at the real reasons why men behave the way they do after a first and second date.

Greenwald took a business approach to researching for this book. According to the publisher, Greenwald, with her Harvard MBA business savvy, conducted “Exit Interviews” with 1,000 men, asking them why they hadn’t called back after a date or online flirtation.

Here are a three parts from the book that really hit home for me:

Chapter 3 really gets into the crux of the interviews and lists the top reasons why men don’t go for that second date. The third reason the author refers to as the “Bait and Switch.” Basically this means that men perceived the woman to be one way, but then after they met for that date he realized she was something else. This is more than just having a picture on your dating profile that doesn’t look like you. It’s about unrealistic expectations. Greenwald writes: “Sell, but don’t oversell yourself up front. Regardless of your looks or personality, you’ll have a greater chance for a second date if you are a little better, rather than a little worse, than what he expected.”

I guess my dad was right: you are the company you keep. Reason #13 he didn’t call you back: “The comments, behavior, and beliefs of your friends and family become synonymous with yours before he really knows you.”

In Chapter 5 Greenwald lists a few of the outtakes from her interviews. She didn’t consider these snippets scientific data by any means, but she did think the reasons some men did not call for that second date were hilarious and so she kept them in the book. I’m so glad she did because this really was the best part for me. Here is my favorite: “I heard her pee while she was talking to me on the phone.”

Hopefully this gives you a taste for the book, Why He Didn’t Call You Back. I recommend the read for those dating and even for those that aren’t. I think it offers nice insights into the minds of men and women in general.

You might remember my post from a few weeks ago titled “How to Stay Broken Up.” In the post I talk about how it’s important to make the final cut when it comes to those awful relationships, and I list seven ways to make sure you ex stays out of your life for good. Turns out I missed one thing: When you break up with that loser be sure to get rid of all those gifts he gave you too. This includes CDs, clothes, and most importantly jewelry.

OutOfYourLife.com makes selling jewelry easy. With the Internet, eBay, and similar sites we are blessed to never have to step into a pawn shop again.

Pawn shop = more depressing than the actual breakup

All you have to do is mail in your unwanted jewelry and then wait to receive payment for the jewelry. Not only does getting rid of the jewelry help you find closure, but it also will help you finance your new online dating profile. How’s that for economical?

If you try Yahoo! Personals, the first week is free and only$15.99 each month for the six months after that. Imagine if you get a $100 for those earrings? That’s enough for you to find a new man in just six months!
