Dating a Writer – Pros and Cons
by Sara on December 29, 2008
After yesterday’s compliment of John Truby’s Anatomy of Story, I got to thinking about what it must be like to date a writer … to date me!
I imagine it was pretty rough at times for some of those boys. Sorry about that.
Anyway, here’s my take on the pros and cons of dating a writer.
| PROS |
CONS |
- You can talk about the books you’re reading and
he’ll actually care to listen.
- He always compares things in real life to characters in his book.
- He’s in touch with his creative and sensitive side.
- He asks you to carry his notebook and pen in your purse all the time.
- Chances are he has good handwriting.
- You worry his latest short story is really about your relationship.
- He’ll be easy to buy holiday gifts for. You can’t ever lose with a moleskin journal and this year’s Pulitzer Prize Winner.
- When he’s working hard on his book, he won’t have time to see you.
- Your friends will be curious about what he does and ask lots of questions when they meet him. He’ll feel special and so will you.
- He’ll have bad posture from leaning over his computer all day and all night.
- He’ll write you poems and his wedding vows.
