Boo! How Not To Scare Him Off

Happy Halloween.

In celebration of Halloween I thought I’d put a little dating twist on the scary, scary subject of telling someone you like them. It can be terrifying but it can also be very rewarding…so find the courage and tell him already.

Women often turn off guys they like by coming on way too strong. Making plans for a vacation or talking about your future children names are great examples of just that. Instead, compliment your new guy to let him know you’re game, but not looking to win the series right now.  Here are a few ideas for you:

1.    Laugh at his jokes. Seems small, but you’ll make him feel great.
2.    Show some confidence by deciding on when and where your third or fourth (or both) dates will be. Guys get tired of asking girls out and making all the decisions so make sure there is an equal amount of give and take.
3.    Use that body language. Sit facing him, part your lips just a bit, touch his shoulder from time to time, and smile often.
4.    Say, “You’re right.” This doesn’t need to be used in the context of an argument, but rather after he states an opinion you agree with or facts about something you feel strongly about. We all like to feel “right” but men especially like to be on top.
5.    Introduce your man to your friends followed by something nice that won’t embarrass him. For example, “Hi Judy, this is Bob. Bob just got back from a month-long trip to South America and was telling me about some amazing hiking. Judy, didn’t you go somewhere to hike last summer?” The more interesting and impressive you make him feel the more he’ll like you.
