The Sassy Bean just posted a great article about choosing the right name for your online profile. It’s a difficult thing to come up and to be creative with, but it’s so important and according to the Sassy Bean and the author of a study out of Nottingham Trent University having the right handle will increase your chances of someone contacting you.

The study looked at seven different categories of names and evaluated which categories brought the best results. It was determined that names that were playful, physical descriptors, and described intelligence were the most effective while handles that were arrogant or described wealth were not effective with women at all.

So to recap. Don’t use RICHHOTGUY and do use DRSUESSismyHERO.

Whatever you decide make sure that it is you. By trying too hard to have a clever handle you might lose your audience and come off as fake. It’s important that everything in your profile be genuine and fun.
